Joining an alliance

How do you actually do it? When i try,it just brings me back to the screen that shows different alliances.

if you are playing in a Version 4 realm ... the leader needs to invite you
if you are playing realm 1 to4, realm 10 :  go to Statistics > Alliances > type the Alliance name and search> Joining the Alliance
   Joining the Alliance button appears on top of the alliance members list.
