Ok, I don't know the programmer of the current calculator but here are its current flaws:

-> It is Windows-only based.
-> Having said that, it is Vista incompatible.
-> To top that, it doesn't work on some regular Windows XP installations either, because a dll library file on the programmer's PC was used for writing the application, and we need the exact same library file for it. You would think that this won't turn into a problem but it seems like sometimes your version of the file is different. The only solution I have found around this problem is a fresh install, but it might not work if the reason is in your install version.
-> A minor problem is also the fact that some of the tabs are cyrillized and can't be read by non-cyrillic systems.

So, what do we have now? A bugged product that can be used only by part of the community, giving those people an edge over the rest, who are left with a try-and-fault way of figuring out armies.

What is my solution?

Using the already-written code and transforming it to a platform-independent programming language. Hell, it can be done in PHP or Perl, for what it's worth. The GUI is an option, nobody actually needs it. Another "extra" may be a language.ini so everybody can make a translation of it in one's own language.

...You've just described 95% of the world's software... Why on Earth would anyone be using Vista, anyway?

Huh?! I use Vista but I don't suffer any problems?!  Huh?
Just get rid of some of the porns will you. Maybe the problem lies there.  *Grin*

Oh, we have a funny chap indeed.

Truth be told, I may have been wrong on that one. I checked different reports on the errors I got and there was no single guy with Vista that said the programs ever ran on his system. And to why I am running that "piece o' crap" - I got a special promotion laptop for quite some money off the standard prize because of the Windows' campaign to sell their new product. And it's not that bad. I guess you need the Ultimate pack to get rid of all those "user-friendly" stuff that just about nobody needs.

And I got no problems with Vista-nonsupporting software except Everquest II (but it may be the videocard at fault, I am not sure)

Thanks to staff about the web-based thingie. I really think it's the best idea if the servers can allow the extra calculation load. And, PLEASE, make it usable with Firefox!

Online battle calculator is much more OK than the current one (specially if you use a mac), but now that you're re-writing it, it would be nice if you could release the source-code (whatever, php, perl, etc.). Someone could write them desktop apps as a frontend to such source-code and add nifty features, such as save-load, add "profiles" (just in case you're playing in various realms), etc. Or re-write it using flash (cross-platform) code, etc.
