Rule Sets

Where can I get information about the particulars for the various rule sets on each Era? I have been searching around but can only find the "Complete Manual" which covers only one specific rule set. I would like to experiment to see which one I prefer having only played on Blitz and just started on 38. It appears there are several other options though. Also, how can you tell what the duration of an Era is after you register? Do you have to go back and 'register' another account stopping short to review the date range or is there some feedback somewhere in the game?
