basics on armies

hey im new to this game, i ve read manuals and many posts but cant find answers to basic questions on armies  , sorry!

i trained 200 archers, training time is over, where are they? can i use them?

on one version of the manual it said i could use 200 archers to colonize a province, but when i hit coloniza it says i need 500 spearmen, is that so? 

im close to 50 points, so i can be attacked. how big should my army be? and my fortress? i wouldnt like to lose everything on my first week!

go to command center-soldiers in training and mobilize your 200 arches and you can use them 
to colonize you need 500 spearmen or 500 arches

fort should be as high as u can make it, and put at least 100 archers indie.
for army composition, and attacking, download battle calculator, and try out some combinations

found them!!!  how do i get them into the fortress?
and can i attack with a combination of spearmen and archers (lets say 300 and 200)?

you need at least 1000 soldiers

to get them into the fortress you go to command center-army deployment
to attack you need at least 1000 soldiers

  The minimum amount of soldiers needed to send an attack is 1000.
            You can attack with any kind of combination, but if you attack with siege machines then the minimum number of men needed for every siege machine is : battering rams - 25 ;  catapults - 50 and trebuches - 100 .
   To put the archers into fortress, select command center > army deployment and from there you can put them inside the fortresses.
        Edit: I noticed that makavelis managed to post before me but i decided to post anyway.
