40 millioin gold gone missing

I've deposited 50,000,000 gold in the bank before logging off this morning

Now, I've came back and found that only 10,000,000 were deposited

Now I have 11 millions instead of expected 54

Where have my riches gone?

In V5 (if I remember correctly, before this game, last time I played was in 2013), the WHOLE POINT of depositing was to save your gold from attackers, when you were offline

Was saving up for next civilization level, too

There is no difference between depositing gold in v5 & 6. Both have chance to be stealed from you . Lol, you're such rich guy (oops, actually you was)

The bank deposit is a new feature in version 6, keeping gold in the tavern in v5 was different. It is good to have in mind that deposting your gold in the bank doesn't mean it is protected against enemy attacks. It still can be looted. A successful espionage report reveals all gold available in the empire (including the deposited amount).

Tavern, that's what I had in mind, yep. It was almost 4 years back that I've played last (before having been lured back in by IO crew's letter and gift of diamonds )

Well, this is what I've learned the hard way, didn't I? Still didn't manage to collect as much since
