An ability to scout from trading, military posts and colonies would be awesome. Since these holdings are "outposts" for your empire, it makes sense that you should be able to scout from them to find threats to your holding or new possible special resources to acquire.

The technology Scouting increases the maximum distance the spies can reach from the main empire. Scouting from distant holdings is not allowed, the distance the spies could reach from there could be much different and sometimes these holdings may be more distant from the main empire than the distance allowed for scouting. However, thank you a lot for your suggestion, it will be reviewed and maybe used as a part of another design.

Thank you for your reply. I am aware that scouting is not allowed from "distant" holdings as you put it. I was/am simply making a suggestion to add the option to scout from these holdings to add a new wrinkle to the game. The fact that you can send scouts out to 100 miles (125 if you get the emperor skill) from your main empire is kind of a small distance given the size of the maps. If you give the players the option to scout from their "distant" holdings it gives them a better idea of the "lay of the land" for said holdings. If you consider the fact that a player can have a trading post up to 1700 miles (2210 miles if they have detailed maps) away from the main empire, the ability to scout 100-125 miles around that trading post does not give that player any more or less information than the players around that trading post don't already have from their own scouts.
