Thanks for your patience - here is the result form the check we made:

by the time of the siege you suffered damages from the garrison archers, who fight with boosted attack and 1 tower. The Morale drops and the front line soldiers flee at 45 Morale. You ended up with archers who do not inflict damages to the wall and who also flee later at 17 Morale.

Why, however, did the Simulator not match this? when I used the simulator following the spy report, it suggested an easy win?

At which point of your moral your troops flee is random, there is a chance if it drops below 50. That your swords flee at 45 doesn't happen often, so the simulator will almost always tell you that you'll win... but i had a report where my troops fled already at moral 48, and i've seen a report where moral dropped down to 14 and the attacker won. If you want to be sure, check your moral in simulator before you attack. But in your case, it seems you just had bad luck, especially in the beginning, you won't find much targets to attack if you always want to be 100% sure you'll win.

Thanks, yxcv. Yes, there is no 100% guarantee that you will win, also because you can never be sure what researches does the opponent have and their levels. What is wise to do is make at least 10 simulations,  in order to estimate your chances 50/50. But this also is an approximate result. If in doubt - you can always send us any battle for a detailed check.
