Lost Battle, but how?

Is there anyone available that could explain to me why I lost this battle against the Nomads?  I simulated (and still simulate it) dozens of times and it's always a win for me, yet I lost.  Not knowing my mistake is killing me (literally )

The nomad camp had more developed military researches than yours, battles in all 4 provinces were close. The warden general in the capital had less developed skills than the warden generals you put to guard your other 3 provinces the nomad camp hit. The terrain bonuses of the provinces also affects the battle.
