Greetings,
Everyone is aware of the abandoned empires sprinkled all over the map which usually prevents active empires from expanding. Also it is not visually pleasant, really. How about removing abandoned empires from the map?
I am NOT suggesting to delete the accounts but just cleaning the map so that active players will be able to play the game and use the resources effectively. In case of an activation of an abandoned empire, since there will be a lot of vacant space on the map, player can be re-positioned easily; of course the new place will not be the same where the empire was first established. That will be the penalty of abandoning  (like the existing rule, 15 days abandoning results in loosing extra resources).
Farewell!

Hi there,

Even though abandoned empires provide farming abilities for the players in the realm, I consider this to be a good suggestion. Once the empire has been emptied and stopped producing resources then yes.. they could be removed from the map.

Thank you for the suggestion. It will be reviewed.

Cheers

Exactly, that is the point. I do not remember now how long it was (48h or 72h or more) but yes, after the production stops, indeed, abandoned empires could be removed from the map. Once again, NOT the account but just the empire. Thanks for the consideration.

I suggest something else. I suggest that the abandoned empires with less than 100 points will become Independent Cities after some time. This will make some free room on the map. I play at realm 177, and players are so close to each other that there is no place for colonies!

Hi Felix,

Thanks for the suggestion. This has been suggested in the past also however, the reply that came back on it was a prompt "No". The reason for that is: Many of the players having an account in an era or may come back as they did in the past also. At certain points. Their accounts cant be re-positioned on the map and they cannot be deleted either.
I wish I could pass this for review, however since it was discussed, I dont want to raise false expectations.

Cheers

Something still could be done.
1. The removal timer could be significantly longer than the non-productive timer, say 2 weeks.
2. If the player come back, he could be placed at a random location on the map(at the edge as if a new player, but slightly closer to the center than new player depending on his "size"). Fact is, such a player, due to missing a whole 2 weeks, is unlikely to compete in his original location anyway, probably can't even beat any of the higher level barbarians in his region. This relocation would, naturally, bring alone his entire empire and exclusive zone. The only problem with this relocation would be terrain type, which either the system will attempt to find a close(if not exact) match for or allow a reestablishment of provinces in anyway he choose.

There would be a logical explanation for such a relocation as well, that during the time that the "king" fled the country, the people were driven away by hostile forces and had to run away to re-establish a new "colony". A message to this effect can be displayed upon the player's return.

It's not entirely unheard of in history, during the Mongolian invasion of Europe, many country moved their center of power(entire empire in fact) west as a result of displacement effect.

I know you don't want to alienate possible returning players, but it would be worse to alienate players who are still here.

We are working on a solution which will help us to provide more space for the annexed provinces, thank you for your suggestion, I'll forward it for a review.

hi all!

or maybe need to think about why so many empires going to be abandoned.
I see some reasons.

1, when players log in to a restarted realm many of them check the skills of the generals first (after build palace) what is random generated. if we find it useless we are abandone that reg immediately.
2, the same case if there is no good special resources around the empire. because we think why we should start a reg with useless generals or no good special resources around the empire? and you can bet on that diamond players do the same, because they wont invest into empires like these.

there can be a solution for the first case, to choose the inborn talents, or at least one of the two. but only when the game starts or restarts.
for the second case I think its more hard to do it, but what if we have opportunity to choose our own place on the map when game starts or restarts?
and there is connection to the real life, because all nomad tribes and nations choosed that place to their settlements what they find good *Smiley* (or found cities) for example I am hungarian and my nation did a long-long journey until they found the good place for the country. its called country conquest *Smiley*
or you can give us the opportunity for resettlement like when we found colonies or found trade posts. but this case the whole empire will travel to the new place. there can be price for that by 4 kind of resources.

and I have a further suggestion connected to this. since I play this game I am waiting for real colonization, real conquest of new territories. we need sea and rivers and lakes to the map *Smiley* we can have brand new special resources like fish, crab, clam what will give us similar bonuses like wheat or rice. and also important because of trade. (river and sea routes) then we can train explorers, build ships and do discovery journeys to expand our empires and found colonies. there can be quests in achievements too. then we will have fleets and there can be sea battles too. or with this features you can develop a v7 for us, or v6 colonization *Smiley* I play strategy games since 20 years because its never ending love  *heart*  and imperia online can be the best online strategy game ever! it has the most reasonable fund to advance more better *wink* I am pretty sure those who play IO most of them grew up on Age of Empires, Civilization, Total War series and games like these, and we all dreaming about the perfect strategy game what wash together these classic's best features into a real time strategy game.  [:-}
