Error joining alliance

Ok, so i am new. I have have only played for about a month so i could be totally wrong and doing something silly but...

So i joined an alliance. After  couple of days, they thought i was a inactive due to miss communication and kicked me out. So i talked with them and asked to join again and they agreed to let me. However when i go to click the join alliance box, it tells me "You can not join an alliance you left." Is this normal since i didn't actually leave but was forced out?

Well that s irritating. The alliance guys seemed confused and didn't seem to know why.
