Lack of guardians shouldn't be that big deal (except when you want to goldmine only with guardians) but lack of phalanx would show very fast and i doubt, given the power of imperials archers, heavy spearmen could be solution even in horde.

Imagine solution. 1 million phalanx, 400k elite archers, 500k guardians and 500k paladins goes against nomad (in my old era that army is very possible)

What a hell you can put against that. Cavalry?Huh?Huh?? Elite archers  *black_eye*

I did a battlefield calculator with the army I would create for nomad and I win.  I estimated all researchs 20,20,20.  I had nomad in defense on neutral ground as I am playing nomad at the moment.  I looked at the imperian army cost and with that cash I managed to make:
200,000 javalin men
1000000 heavy spear
1000000 heavy sword
400000 elite archerer
700000 paladins
200000 cataphract archers

and I win.  2.4 million man army vs. 3.5 million.

the costs of the army are Imperian 1,501,400,000 wood and 483,000,000 iron      upkeep 1,920,000
and nomad                                 1,016,400,000 wodd and 429,800,000 iron      upkeep 1,777,000

The only thing I dont know is if the nomads can make enough humans to fill a 3.5 million man army!  But if they have a 200,000 pop cap, then I guess its possible.  It was alot of numbers...i hope my math is dead on!!!

I dont think that armies will be so numerable in v5. Units are much more expensive, so armies will be smaller.
Are you sure that imperians didn flee because morale going under 50? That could also effect battle to look that nomads certanly win.

I admit I dont understand the battle reports yet and hate that I dont have a paper report I can show you, but it was a morale victory.  there were many soldiers on both sides when the battle ended.  I ran it a few times and it came up nomad win.  With imperian in defense, they would have the 10% defense bonus, but i did not run that scenerio with my nomad account *Smiley*

If you ask me battle report is broken. When i do simulation i have one battle where after they kill enemy left and right units are standing and doing nothing while i real battle left and right armies go and help center army in attack.

Also i prefer old battle report. Flash is nice for first few times but what i need are hard core numbers like in old realms.

that is one important thing. This is text-based game.Ppl who love it ,love its abstraction, they arent hunger for cheesy graph.Im also aware that market is cruel and that old-school hardcore fans arent enough to survive. But im sure that ppl like reports filled with many details ,i would like round per round statistics ,for example efficiency of all units, total damage done, damage resisted because of good composition, kills done,% of what company hit what company etc... Of course i wouldnt look all details in every battle ,but io players like precision ,they want to know what is exact minimum army for certain stuff ,to do many calculations and plans . Like in IH ,there is full report for geeky players who love a lot details.
