How about for level 9 fortress?  Huh?
if it were to exist, it would be something like lvl 7 fortress with 4*fortification level + 30 fortification...
so someone with lvl 9 and 15 forti would have lvl 7 fort with 90 fortification? (I'm too tired to take my calculator and check if I did this right...)

level 8 slows down a lot of would be attackers.  You MUST bring trebs to take a level 8 in the mountains unless your honor level is absolutely insane.  Level 7, even boxed, can be done with guardians alone if there are no soldiers defending.  However, with stone trading at 5 in a long realm, repairing that thing is a female dog

level 8 fortress is the last thing to do in a province, so if your level fortress 8 got destroyed you dont need to repair it anyway since you dont need to build any on that province?

to calculate LvL 8 fortress divide by 2 "JUST THE  TREBUCHETS"  and use the actual fortification LvL  >>>NOT 2X+10

and.... if you are online more than 15 hours per day...
it will be your biggest mistake not to build LvL 8 fortresses to "all" of your proviences (cuz of upkeep)

just this day I attacked Level 7 fort and this is part of the result
LEVEL 7 FORT

But before the impact I made a calculation and make  it Level  8 fort with level 13 fortification
LEVEL 8 FORT & 13 fortification

http://www40a.imperiaonline.org/imperia/game_v4a/_addons/dokladi/?path=webcalc/9/2010_12_19/8264331_12015060

Can somebody compare & explain to me. what happened in round 3 and so on for level 7 & level 8 fort?

Why is my guardians in level 8 fort double the attack as compared to level 7 fort?
Why is also my trebs make a lot of damage in fort 8 compared to Fort 7?

Only part of your guardians fight in fortress siege and damage walls. Number of units damaging walls is equal 4 * base capacity(without mil architecture bonus).
Fort lvl   base capacity
Fort 1 = 100 *4
Fort 2 = 200 *4 ...
Fort 7 = 6400 * 4 = 25600
Fort 8 = 12800 *4 = 51200
So in fort 7 maximum number of units damaging walls is 25600, in fort 8 - 51200. Number of units damaging walls is equal 4 * base capacity(without mil architecture bonus).

Just a Clarification on the Rule == > Number of Units damaging the wall is equal to 4 multiplied by Base capacity (without bonus).   The wall attackers is 3 kinds, Guardians/Phalanx  and Siege Weapons.  Let us say I send 3000 Trebs with 100,000 Guardians and 100,000 Phalanx, 100,000 Paladims and 25,000 Elite Archers.   Question (1) is the siege weapon included in the base capacity limitation? -  that is - will it be deducted from the 51200 limit, thus leaving the guardians/phalanx to only 48,200.   Question No. (2)  Who will attack first in the 3rd Round - Phalanx or Guardians since both exceeds the 51200 limit, will it be all Guardians or will it be all Phalanx or will it be both? Thank you and Merry Christmas

V4a rules or older(R1-R7x)
Siege weapons are not counted in that base attacking capacity. So 51200 of your units hits the walls.
The order is swordmen, then spearmens, from heaviest to weakest. So guards will fill those places(unit with most damage). If you dont have enough of guards, then phalanx, then heavy swords, then heavy spears, light swords, light spears.
