They dont have to .If u want to check if u have 100% chance to win a battle heres what u need to do :
Put attacker moral 200 . Put ur moral 100 . assuming correct researches- sorry cant help with that ,its not predictable in NI ,but if they are "normal"... simulate fights . case :
1: defender wins with more than 50 moral every time ,and u simulate it few times. Its clear shot :in real battle u will certanly destroy army fast and there are no "flee" luck. 2:attacker wins ,and in progress he drops 200->170 in moral .In this case attacker surely win ,he will be above 50 moral all the time in real battle. 3: defender wins with moral less then 50 ,and sometimes lose .This is what u need to do : raise defender moral in calculator .Main goal is to determine how much moral attacker "used" ,and how much moral defender "used" in fight to death .Just to see clear picture who is really stronger with max luck on both sides. After that u need to get back to normal starting value and figure out who has bigger chance. Its hard to explain without example ,but lets say that in simulation with 200 start moral on both sides ,attacker uses 70 moral ,and defender uses 90 moral until combat is resolved ,its obvious that if in real battle moral starts 110/100 defender will enter red zone faster and more likely lose. But there is nothing for granted here ,coz they can survive 10 checks ,and attacker fails on his first..winner in fight to death (simulation 200/200 start moral) is not always winner in real battle ,often is defenders low real starting moral exploited in big combats ,where attacker flank tires defender flank into retreat, but cant kill it in 200/200 simulation. So i hope this helps ..
