WOOD LIMIT

My wood is topped out at 20K....nothing I do seems to allow higher limit.

I searched but found nothing.

I am stuck where I am and cannot improve to research Centralization 1

just read the game rules (bottom of your kingdom's screen) : you have a fort 1 and you reached max storage capacity.
reading the manual is also a good idea if you want to be able to compete
