This might not be much but I always put workers in the Lumbermill that I wanted to put in the mines, just because they comes before the mine if you use the quick-icon to the right.

I guess most of the players wanna produce Iron as No 1, so a simple switch making Iron the first choice instead of Wood in that pop-up menu would do it for me.

If you are talking about this thing, IRON is the second in that Quickly-Hire workers button, and It's very simplest thing, it's not a problem, and most people like it how, it is. I think this thing don't need to change.

You can start hiring from bottom to top, and choosing iron mines. This way when the list goes smaller, u will have targeted the right mine you want.

That's even worse since I then put them I the useless Quarry.

I think I will quit instead.

You just need to click on iron mine  it cant be that hard! Try, you might surprise yourself
