Title: Battle report in V5
Post by: nekodrugi on January 09, 2011, 03:34:55 AM
Here it is boys and girls

Let me see what you think about it.

I really don't like this new battle report it gives very little informations and i would really like to have old v4a battle report. I don't care of flash but i do care of having enough informations to make good decisions.

Tell me what you think and ask your alliance members to vote too.

Vote NOW!!!

nice thread man. i got really frustrated with v5 reports because i cant see the damage round by round so that i could improve where i was failing. they should at least have a round by round detail somewhere, not just this stupid flash thing and then i have to understad what each dot or slash represents, i have other things to do than waste time learning if a dot and a slash is an archer or a spearman. *black_eye*

good tread :)
I voted for: "Yes, keep the flash but add option to see report like in V4a" so that are happy all, howewer, if you must choise only between old report and this report, is very better old report for me

It will help not only for building up your own strategy, but also hunt down bugs. So... you have a vote from me too.

People, Yovanna told us that there is no way they would change current battle report but i KNOW from my experience that if A LOT of people ask for something than they do make change.

Having that in mind ONLY way to make our case strong enough is to VOTE in H U G E numbers

So far 20 people voted. Thats a JOKE. Some of your alliances have more than 20 members.

If you are really serious and you really want that IO improve battle report than make all of your friends vote.

There is no other way.

Poll isn`t official. I think it won`t really affect IO team.
You need all people opinions, not only from forum - so the poll in game should do a trick.

I might sound a little discriminative, for which I apologize, but it depends whose opinion it is. So, I guess maeof has some experience with IO. And so do other people. People, who have proved that in the forum. If they give a logical explanation what and why they want, if a representative (CM) comes and puts some other questions, there are some arguments pro and contra, and, if the discussion reaches an agreement- things are changed. It is beta, nothing is impossible.

Maeof there is no way i could start a poll in game. This is the best i can and the best WE can do.

If we wait for IO to start a poll about this topic than we could wait for long loooooooong time

Anyway, as i can see it in this case i'm like Don Quixote especially when i see ONLY 23 persons voted (out of ??????? persons playing V5). I'm well aware that not too many players go on forum and that's the one of the reasons why i'm thinking to totally give up going to forum.

I'm spending my time trying to help, suggest and i get what from that? I can / should spend that time with my child.

I will see how this poll goes and than maybe that would be last thing i did on forum

Neko, I know that you can`t start a poll in game.

Probably 1 of 10 players visit forum. In old times manuals there in the forum, now their at How to play webpage, manuals in forum attracted more people here.

Yes, I have a little expierence in this.

LOL 1 of 10. That's very optimistic my friend.

If you look at statistic today we had 37 players and right now 19 are in forum for ALL realms. If we look how many realms there is at least few thousand people are playing this game (i'm trying to be moderate here).

So ratio is more like 1 of 100 but probably more.

Also i know for sure that almost all players don't like current battle report but take a look how many voted.

Basically players are not interested in involving into anything. if they have a bug or question they would come to ask but that's about it and worst of all IO is not trying to see what their customers think about something so no polls so far.

Yes, even I try to not involve if I need an answer for a question etc. .

i have learnt from 3 years dealing with this forum that it doesnt matter what you say, even if you are right, you cant win, this battle report sucks, its not a report its a cartoon, tom and jerry is much better. you cant assess the impact of your army, you just have to keep loading numbers and pushing variables until you get a mix that will win, but you dont know why you won... was it the swords or the spears that made the difference, hahaha you never know. but they dont care about that, having 2 races means that we can have 2 reports easily. whats the big deal anyway? customer satisfaction should be priority *hmm* *hmm*

Just small remarks:
1. Reports v4 and v5 differ a lot because in each version there is complitely different battle mechanics. I can imagine in v5 same raport as in v4, but I am perfectly sure that players would report a lot of bugs just because it would need them to understand differences beetwen battle mechanics in v4 and v5. I don't think this is a good idea...
2. I think there should be an option in poll to keep v5 flash report, add some aditional info (I would like to see bonuses which army has for Catafracts, phalanx and for atacking from flanks to center when they kill enemies ahead etc... - so there is a lot of room for improvement). but on the other hand to develop some simplistic raport in v5 which would be similiar as v4. But not the same...
3. I would love to have a possibility of posting battles on forum without any 3rd parties (like imageshack etc.) - so maybe it would be best to make this simplistic report from point 2 possible to put on forums.

Just some ideas to this topic. Since there is no point which cover my 2 point I voted for: "Yes i want more info but keep the flash" *gamer*

Tell me something please. Why do you think IO players are not smart enough to learn new battle mechanic.

Of course they would be confused in beginning (but same way we were confused when we start playing V5) but eventually they would learn the difference and they WOULD START using data in the way it should be used.

Please don't have assumptions that by NOT showing data you protect "players" from having wrong conclusions.

Forum is full of questions about happiness, moral, attacks, population etc etc because people dont/didn't understand V5 but that didn't stop IO from implementing "new ways" how things are calculated.

I really don't care if they would keep Flash as long as i can get hard core data. Without hardcore data it's like alchemy when you want to determine what is the best attack or defense when it's VERY close call if you would win or lose the battle.

1. Where do You see me writing that I think that players playing v5 are not smart enough to learn different battle mechanic? *xxx*

I would really prefer if You would read what I wrote and understand it - not to take asumptions on Your own. I wrote pretty preciselly what I think.  *gamer*

2. To avoid confusions - please do reports different then v4. Really. To give simple example - here You have 2 flanks (Without bonuses) and there can be also phalanx or swords on flanks - depending on Your army. So to avoid future problems, explanations - do a good raport but in simplistic way (For example txt how it was 4 years ago in IO v1-v2, which can be posted on forum without 3rd parties). I don't want to give much work to programers - just as little as possible :) So please make it as simple as possible :)

3. Where do You see me writing that I advice NOT to show data? *xxx*
@nekodrugi - I wrote something complitelly oposite - to add data to raports. Can You please read with understanding again? *pardon*

4. In simplistic raport which I sugested You would have exactly that what I hope for and wrote in my previous post - hard core data of the battle. So You actually just repeat what I have written. *pardon*

Overall - nekodrugi - read with understanding and don't take assumptions on Your own... If You don't understand what someone else wrote - ask to clarify... *tired*
