Title: ADVERTISING - most annoying.
Post by: Console_Cowboy on October 31, 2009, 10:13:41 AM
Now when I rumour, on the Player's List page, the advertising shows above the rumour table.  Did someone program "always on top" ?   This is very annoying.  Is the objective to alienate the player from the advertiser because I still do not recall the advertisement just the feeling that I am terribly annoyed.

BTW, that feeling of annoyance has no cash value to the advertiser.  Feeling Alienated has no cash value to I.O.   FTW? FTL?  Fail?

If I have to demand fix it, then the answer is Fail.

What screen resolution are you playing on?
You need at least 1024x768 to have a decent point of view in browser.

It's possible, but probably fault is resolution. I.O Don't annoys us with following commercials.

Sorry.  My BAD for using cheap equipment and playing for free...    *hahaha*  Glad I do not have a low self-opinion.  *tired*  The problem is what it is for a fact, and it is not a problem on my end: monitor resolution or playing for free.  It is a hard coding problem.

FAIL.   *bravo*

I can kill the skyscrapers but the bottom banners are another thing - cannot get rid of those. When I get a list of rumours on a page and the rumour popup is at the bottom of the list, the advertsing is "always on top" of the rumour.  So I open another tab and rumour.  But this is a coding problem. Work arounds do not solve.  They work around.  *tired*

but what resolution are you playing on really?
I doubt that your display and PC can't hold 1024x768 pixels.

I seriously doubt it too.  The fix is not on my side. Older ads do not have this hard coding problem.  Just the new ones. My resolution stays the same viewing the old advertising and the new annoying ads. I do not need a BSc to "get it." The fix is not on my side.

Communications FAIL.   *freak*
Blaming the ad consumer: EPIC FAIL.  *bravo*

if you click on darker grey pay part of rumours you can drag it away from ads so then you can see rumors ok. I know its a pain in ass but hope it helps.

i know about problems with banners: mettin2, lords of the rings, dark orbit, fiesta, unification wars, and you can always close side banner if rumors are hiding under it

You might as well just send a mail for account removal.

We've send a letter to the colleagues to inform them about their banners. Its all dependant on them.

Actually adblocks plus is very neat and powerful plugin.
But the funny thing is, back when I wasn't premium the
vertical banner on the right side never showed in firefox.
Only [X] in the bottom :) On IE/Opera etc it was present
but not in firefox, although I never had it filtered via adblock
or other similar plugin/software. Try playing with FF :)

EPIC FAIL
meh... Why bother blocking the ad when all I see is  RED  every time the ad annoys me. I have no recall of the ad.  Just how frustrated I am with it. I suppose their product is twice as shit as the annoying ad.
EPIC FAIL

I mean, it is logical. The ad is supposed to attract me not repel me.  If they fail to even attract me it is reasonable to conclude that whatever they're selling will not sustain my interest.  Waste of time - like their ad.
EPIC FAIL
Sure. Blame the advertiser is a good strategy... that will be sure to increase future advertising revenue.... God knows I.O employs only script kiddies so there is no chance for culpablility with I.O. in this EPIC FAIL  Tell the advertisers this so they will understand it's a QA thing.
EPIC FAIL

Genius  *bravo*

like I said you can drag rumours away from ads it's not that hard and you don't need to be a pc genius to do it. Actually a pc novice could do it. *pardon* Whats the point in getting so wound up about it. *pardon*

It's the thinking behind the problem, baby. The thinking behind the problem.   Problems are temporary; Habits are forever.  Annoying habits need to be broken. Read what most people are complaining about on this forum and you will see it is not all about the ads....
