This cheating is beyond a joke in Realm 9.......

Seriously guys........... Something needs to be done, otherwise it will just derive players away from the game............

Now, If I had have bought some of that Iron and this is investigated would I have been banned for cheating ??

Oh, I forgot to mention that this was about 12:40 realm time - It may help narrow it down to catch those that are cheating..........

if your account can be found linked to the seller's account, then yes, you can be banned for illegal trading

have fun,

hi star welcome back. *rose*

Just a quick question could'nt we just have a minimum and max sell price for each resources set. *pardon* Say for e.g wood min price 0.5 gold max 4 gold or something like that. And if player try's to sell lower or higher game just won't let them. I'm sure it would stop this resource cheating alot and free forrum up from all the post's about it. [:-}

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke
Post by: Starbuck on August 11, 2009, 01:36:54 AM
Hi Samy  *rose*

setting prices automatically would go against the philosophy of the system : the players set the prices.

what can't be accepted, is for players to use the trade system to exchange ressources between multi-accounts, or dump cheap ressources to a friendly players, thus providing an unfair advantages over the others.

there are ways to limit those excesses, but they mostly require :
 - either more policing of player's accounts (and drastic punishments on cheaters)
 - a curb on player's freedom to set the prices and quantities they want to buy/sell

...

It is called free market invented by American and its heritage Bush family. :)

What's wrong if I want to sell my Mercedes SLK for $1?

What's wrong if I want to sell my Mercedes SLK for $1?

nothing wrong ... except when the Mercedes belong to your neighbour ...

and frankly, whose sane capitalist would want to sell a pricey or luxurious item at nothing ? in real-life, there would be a catch ... in IO, it's called multi-accounting and illegal trading, and it has nothing to do with freedom to sell ;)

Have fun,

Hey Up Starbuck...

So, if the honest folk amongst us know it goes on, then why is nothing changing ??

Personally i think it would be easy to adopt a range of +/- 10% of current asking price for any new auction posted.............. This would stop those that benefit from outrageous auction prices (I indeed have manage to sneak in on a couple of these auctions).........

Here's another though (I'm full of them today)............ Why not allow people to buy from any of the Top 5 on the list............ This would require the names of the seller to be published...............

I see the benefit from this 3 fold............ 1 - I could help out friends by purchasing there sales............... 2 - If I saw my target with resources on the list, I could buy them just before my troops arrive and get my gold back :D ............... 3 - Less monitoring for the admins to do :D

Thanks for spending the time to read this nonsense post!!!!!

As with any reform of the trading system, you have to think of how to reconcile player's freedom to influence the realm, and abuses from friendly purchases and fixed battles.

no matter what you propose, you'll have to deal with this sooner or later ... it might be my perverse mind, but I already see tricks to abuse your system (with fixed battles and multi-accounts for example).
and if we restrict player's freedom to set prices/quantities, then it's a complete change of philosophy that the one the game designers wanted to introduce ...

for me, as long as there is a strong incentive to cheat, no system will be close to perfection : and this is exactly what's happening for players who can cheat repeatedly or create multitudes of accounts, eras after eras, realms after realms, without much of a bother.
But that's a different issue than the trading system ... isn't it ? :)

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke

this has always been a moral issue  *pardon*
but still, that 0.1 is so abvious, i think all of us would rather a limit to the sell price  *pardon*

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke
Post by: Dino740 on August 15, 2009, 08:54:12 AM
I hear you there Starbuck.......

Whilst I appreciate that one of the game designers wanted it this way, surely we can all make mistakes ??

Personally the only thing I see this otherwise great game left with is a load of multi-accounts to move resources.............. surely this is not what the game designers wanted?????

I feel confident is saying the above as most, if not all, players I have spoken to believe the current system just isn't working and most are happy to leave the game........ myself included.....  And most, if not all are premium members....... I doubt that most of the multi accounters are !!!!!!!

Oh well, I may as well shut up on this issue and look for another game to spend my hard earnt cash on...........

Now if that sale happens to be from an alliance member......... I have no idea who sold it........... I run the danger of getting banned........

Surely this is unfair on myself ??

In essence, what the system is managing to achieve is to frighten honest people away from the market as they could get banned through no fault of their own............. Surely this is not the intention of the game designers ???

depending on the price offer at the time, it wouldn't necessarily be unfair ... though, it's a great bargain for iron :)

frighten sure is a big word.
you have to be on the lookout for clear fraudulent price offers, but bargains still exist :

wood > 0.3-0.4
iron > 1.5-1.8
stones > 0.7-0.8

below those prices, beware ...
it is said that all politics are locals, and so prices are situational too.

my good friend dino, i`m afraid that i might stop play realm 9  because i just realised that blitz is the old game, v4. it doesnt have that trade system and it has the exciting attack warning. i think r50 in v4a is enough of that version for me.

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke
Post by: Dino740 on August 16, 2009, 17:35:21 PM
depending on the price offer at the time, it wouldn't necessarily be unfair ... though, it's a great bargain for iron :)

As it was 50 Iron for 50 gold then the sale price was 1 :D

frighten sure is a big word.

Not as big as pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicavolcanocon… (defined as a disease caused by inhaling fine graphite or silicate particles)

you have to be on the lookout for clear fraudulent price offers, but bargains still exist :

wood > 0.3-0.4
iron > 1.5-1.8
stones > 0.7-0.8

below those prices, beware ...
it is said that all politics are locals, and so prices are situational too.

So, if it is too good to be true, it generally is........... Just a few pointers from the way I see things at the moment......

1 - Leaving what I believe to be fraudulent sales allows the cheater to grow at an alarming rate............

2 - If the cheater is caught, they are banned for approx 48hrs and in this time the resources are used to create structures/troops (if the latter, the chances are they are too strong for me to attack).......

3 - Bidding on the resources could get me banned.........

To summarise then, under the new market system the only person likely to suffer is the honest player, for trying to bid on a bargain  !!!!!!

This has just been taken from my screen now........... the ratio's are exactly the same as the old system........

All hail the new system............... NOT  :head_hurts_kr: *bravo* *bravo*

blackdeath - Sorry to heat that you may be leaving realm 9 (I think I read in another post that you may be leaving 50 as well)..........

If things ease up in RL for me, I will more than likely follow you in abandoning the new realms............

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke
Post by: victorklr on August 16, 2009, 18:54:29 PM
can't u realize that this new market is ruining imperia ... eventually all the honest player will quit this game and only the cheater's will continue playing ...(you can see the start of this in the hall of shame) ... to the IO team .... u like this new version because more and more players uses premium and spend their money on useless resources ...  but with that money you will have to pay more admins because to many of the players in this game already cheats and with the current number of admins u wont handle the wave of cheater's to come .... hope someone will read this and understands what im trying to say

Starbuck - What are the chances (if any) of the trading system changing or at least tweaking to stop this blatant abuse ???

I have personally witnessed over 40 transactions going through at 0.1 today alone............

I appreciate that the game designers thought that this would be a good idea, but theory and reality are often proved to be quite different......

Obviously the system is not been policed enough by mods/admins or whoever is in a position to do so..........  Hell, I'd volunteer as I can't abide with cheaters!!!!!!

I have tried to persevere with things but it really is out of hand now........  I fear that the only thing left for me and other honest gamers is to find a game more suited to our desire to be challenged on an even playing field......... Thus leaving the cheaters to abuse the system by themselves........ However, I can't see many of these cheaters been premium members..... ;)

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke
Post by: Starbuck on August 18, 2009, 23:44:46 PM
IO Admins are the only ones to punsih cheaters in-game, not Forum Mods ... and when we have infos about any changes to the trade system, we'll forward it on to the community. But as of now, the v4a trade system stands as it is  *pardon*

Have fun,

SB, as always you are quick to respond and inform (usually the only mod that bothers too), for that you are surely respected by most if not all the players here.

now that the kiss ass bit out the way, i couldnt help but comment.

I agree totally with the points raised here on the cheating that goes on with the new market system, i know i have reported suspects to you in the past and you have taken your usual swift action and i have seen them get punished, unfortunately this hasnt solved the problem overall, there are simply too many players doing it now and part of me thinks "who can blame them" the game is now pointless unless you play on level terms (credits aside) and this is turning the want to be honest player into a cheat too!

personally i think i know how you feel towards the new market system and having taken some past advice from you i now limit myself to realms 1-4 where the old rules still hold true.

i would urge any honest player thinking of quitting to do the same, the game still has value......but only if you stay away from the new market rule - it seems that no matter how many times its mentioned nothing satisfactory is going to be achieved, a boycott of those realms is the only way thatyou will retain your honesty but still enjoy the game...incidently realm 4 starts soon ;-), Terrahawks are gonna rule the roost (apply within lol)

regards T

For all other members out there, I would advise against buying any credits............... just create a few accounts and use the markets like others are doing..........

Whats the worse that can happen??                    A 48hr ban................. w0w..........

Even if you get a second ban it is only 72hrs !!!!!!!

Didn't manage to get it all but did get the majority............... "Not enough gold to buy this offer.

Another 2mil of Stone and 4mil of wood just sold for 0.1

I couldn't intercept it myself as I had no gold :(

It is obvious that people are cheating, but it is not so obvious as to who it is, so how are we supposed to report people??

The market system is encouraging cheating (In My Opinion)........ and will only drive honest players (like myself) away from the game..........

I am tired of saying the same things and nothing happens............

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke

I dont see how hard it would be to post the name of the player selling the items, sure it may been seen as advertising what they have but surely any decent player trawls other player to see what they have anyway?

and it would certainly highlight consistent players, especially if there was a list accessible which showed who sold to who, quantity and price of the exchange. I think you would soon see some interesting patterns forming.

I am online over 20 hours a day, if not more..........

I doubt if I'll get banned as I have been very vocal about the abuse of the market and there is no link between me and the seller..........

I post the information so that the @dmins can investigate me to see who sold the resources so that they can be investigated to see who they "normally" trade with and ban them accordingly............

But alas, as has become all too apparent the @dmins are not bothered about the amount of cheating so all that is happening is the cheaters are creating more and more accounts ..................

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke
Post by: Tarantio on November 05, 2009, 09:52:43 AM
200 players banned for abusing the market system, some of them potentially paying players, personally I think that in itself is a reason TOO change the market system then the admins could concentrate on other things. If that one thing was changed that would have been 200 more people still playing (and that was just in a day), cant help but wonder if the player base is growing or declining and if it is growing how many of them actually stick around???

Title: Re: Beyond A Joke
Post by: samyoboy on November 05, 2009, 10:04:01 AM
well would probally be more like 50 players as other 150 where probally them to. Like I say trade system should be changed as for some players they can cheat it till they get 2 day ban. And then owell they are way ahead anyways. But changing trade will not mean less players band as a cheat is a cheat. and they will still cheat somehow. But it would stop them gaining such a big advantage from it. *rose*

Surely it is easier to fix the market then there would be no market cheats and in return less work for the @dmins to do!!!!!!

to be honest it looks like you are doing really well out of this without cheating. i would shut up and grow very strong lol.

bans yesterday in realm 5 for this and rightly so.

I am doing rather well out of it, but it is still wrong......

If they sorted it out, they wouldn't have to ban people.........  And the longer it stays like this, the more and more people will be tempted to cheat....... and the only thing that will happen is the honest players will leave........

I don;t assume for 1 minute that the cheaters buy credits either...........  I mean, why bother when you can transfer millions of resources from loads of accounts and receive a 48hr ban !!!!!!!!

My question still stands.......

Any comment from a Community Manager or is this just getting ignored like most other posts ??
