Dark Fortress and Lord of the Realm

I would like for someone to think of the implications of the dark fortress on Lord of the Realm battle.  Part of the dynamics of this part of the game is balancing alliance army with ability to fund it.  Part of the strategy sometimes would be to catch an alliance in negative gold to attack an already daunting task because of the field fortification upgrade.  When you have the dark fortress that gives the alliance gold every week, you have taken another strategy out of the game, or at least made it not nearly as viable.  I think that individual prizes are good, but alliance prizes certainly skew the game.
