I read somewhere that the attacks are x2 to x5 somewhere (can't find it now) but can see in battle simulator a x2/x5 icon and on the global map a search for x2 to x5 range.

But recently I heard that the attacks have to be within the x2 range.

My question are:

1.  To get +honour/Battle points/Generals experience do I need to hit people within the x2 range HIGHER and LOWER than myself or just higher?

2.  What's the x5 range used for if its just x2 range?

3.  I read in the HOW to Play part that Generals get experience (first hit on EACH independant city) dependant upon Real GE (what ever that is) and not the x2 GE. I have swapped my Generals and still got ZERO exp from hitting Independant cities (I know I have a lot of points but even using the formula I should be recieving a few points each hit).  What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
1. To get honor points your army loses must be at least 10% of your army and you must win the battle. X2 points range means both ,stronger than you and weaker than you as long as they are in x2 range.
2. X5 That is the maximum range that you can attack players, because in war even attacking out of x2 range you don't lose honor but the attack and the morale of your army decreases :
 - Attacking out of the allowed net worth points range x2 causes Honor, Morale and Attack losses per every difference of 0,1 coefficient, as it follows:
 - 2 Honor points
 - 1,67 Morale points
 - 3% of the attacker’s unit parameter ’attack’, which is valid only when the attacker is the bigger account.

3. The experience is calculated only for the first attack on an independent city, nomad settlement etc. You can calculated this way:
-dividing the gold equivalent (GE) of the whole army of the independent city/Nomad settlement by the net worth points of the user, multiplied by 1,5.
example you killed 50000 gold equivalent army and the player had 5000 points before the attack
50000/5000= 10 *1.5 = 15 experience points are earned in that battle

I hit an independant city with say 150 soldiers in it and I have 13k points should I get any generals experience as I am not sure what the GE is?  I only know the GE of the dead soldiers (after the medicine has healed some up) in the battle report/simulator. I hit about 10 independant cities every day and Not had any experince yet apart form the starting 200 from the early quest.

Every general gains experience for him self and only the first time he attacks one independent city and that is very low expirience points, try attacking active players it will boost your experience. GE is gold equivalent 1gold=1wood or 1iron or 1stone.

I am hiting independant cities with 150/400/700 troops in them with differnt attacking generals and still all generals are on zero experience (less the emporer on his starting 200).  Should I report this as a bug then or am I missing something. As even 150 soldiers using that calculation give a few experience.

It is not a bug, your generals gained experience, but its amount is very small (less than 1 point) because the armies of the independent cities are very weak compared to the developement of your account at the moment of the attack.
You should attack more developed independent cities (heavy and elite), or fight active players within range x2 and their generals in order to gain more experience.

*The types of independent cities and their army can be seen in the How to play? menu:
http://www90.imperiaonline.org/imperia/game_v6/game/help/?section=global_map&lang=en&speed=4#globalmap_22
The gained experience depends on the cost of the whole army of the independent city and the net worth points of the attacker.
GE of the whole army in the independent city / (Net worth points of the attacker . 0,75) = Experience points

good morning
I am having the same issue against any independent city. Furthermore, I attacked today a level 5 indenpent city for the first time (5141), resulting in a killed troop GE of 697K (wood + iron), my Networth points were 22985 before the battle, so based on your formula, it would be 697K / 22K * 1.5 = 22. Well, i had not received any experience either.
Please advice.
Thanks

Your empire was more developed compared to the amount of the army of the independent city and the experience the general has won was around half point. The value of the whole army in golden equivalent in the holding is divided by the net worth points of your account, multiplied by 0,75, not just the value of the killed army.

Hello
The whole army of the indenpendent city was composed by 500 heavy spearmen, 660 heavy archers and 16 ballistas. If i am doing well the calculation, this whole army is equal to 718560 wood and 211680 iron, so, this sums up 930,240 gold equivalent. After divide this by my net worth points at that moment, around 23,000 nw pts, and multiplying this result with 0.75, gives me 30 points of experience.
Please explain me what i am doing wrong in the calculation. thank you.
