When you are moving armies to the field in other provinces, the game sends equal portions of each unit to each province. However, when you move armies to the garrisons of provinces, the units are garrisoned based on their upkeep.
While this makes sense from an upkeep perspective, it also creates some easy targets for enemies. For example, a fortress filled only with supply wagons, battering rams or cavalry (the highest upkeep units) with no archers can be attacked by an army with mainly archers and a few swordsmen and the archers will kill a lot of the garrison before the fortress falls, while suffering little to no damage.
Instead, there should be a button to garrison units proportionately, so that you can add archers in order to defend the rest of the garrisoned army. Otherwise, I usually end up using the Move to Field option and then manually garrisoning the units in each province.

I don't think that such button would be of great help, manual adjustment will be again necessary in the most cases. Thank you for suggesting.
