On occasion, when attacking another player within the 2X range with a fortress siege, the attack goes to plan, I win but come away with only 5 gold. I've attacked two provinces of the same player simultaneaously, so although possible, the chances of arriving just after someone else been there a remote. Also to only receive 5 gold, the timing would have to exact. It's happened on various occasions now. Is this a bug, or am I missing something.

You're missing something... It is common question.
1. Active player - he moved resources and fire all people from mines.
2. Goldmine - it wasn't "refreshed". Once player attacks goldmine it stays with 0 resource until someone refreshes it with rumors. You can attack 12 hours after previous battle. BUT if it wasn't refreshed you got nothing. If you refresh it, you get as much as it produced from last battle till refreshing.
